I Don’t Know is a heartfelt reflection on the uncertainties we all face in life. When the weight of unanswered questions feels too heavy to bear, this poem explores the solace found in turning to prayer. Through humble words and unwavering faith, I Don’t Know reminds us that even in our most uncertain moments, we can find peace by placing our trust in a higher power.
I DON’T KNOW
I Don’t Know
When life brings questions I can’t bear,
I find a quiet place of prayer.
In whispered tones, my heart will say,
“I don’t know, Lord, show the way.”Lost in shadows, feeling small,
Seeking comfort through it all.
With trembling heart, I humbly pray,
Guide me gently, come what may.I don’t know where the road will bend,
How, or when, my life will end.
I don’t know how to calm my mind,
Or what true peace I’ll ever find.
I don’t know how to face the pain,
Or how to shelter from the rain.
I don’t know where to find the light,
Or how to make what’s wrong turn right. With faith so small, yet strong and true,
I lift my fears and doubts to You.
And though my path is steep and rough,
I trust that You will be enough. So here I leave my “I don’t know,”
For in Your hands, I let it go.
I walk away with peace anew,
For God, I know, will see me through.David Ritter
ABOUT THE BOOKS
MEMORIES FOR KEEPS
A collection of poetry that reveals one man’s feelings about the world around him. With spirituality the centerpiece of most of his writings, the author touches the hearts and minds of readers with hope, peace, love, humility, wisdom, and wit. While tackling topics ranging from grief to fatherhood, from addictions to friendships, this writer captures the essence of a born-again, alcoholic dad who is grateful to have finally found serenity in life. Today, through this collection of both old and new works, he shares that serenity with you!
BOTTLED MEMORIES
These stand-alone poems were written over many years. While individually they describe the conflicts associated with alcoholism, when read together they reveal a more complete picture of the destruction, depression, and chaos of addiction, as well as the peace, hope, and joy of recovery. Although most of these poems pertain to my life, it is my hope that other people will relate to them also. It’s not only my story but the story of so many others.
