Gone Golfing – A Poem by David Ritter

“Gone Golfing” captures a golfer’s lighthearted spirit and reflection on life and loss. The poem tenderly invites readers to cherish shared moments and find solace in enduring friendships. A whimsical exploration of mortality, it offers comfort through the promise of a reunion on the ultimate golf course.

Gone Golfing

If the round should start without me because I have passed away Cherish the swings that we once made and please continue to play

For I’ll be watching from a gallery with a magnificent view With friends and family from the past all cheering with pride for you

May each tricky putt find the hole your drives fly far and straight And when you’ve taken your final shot let’s meet at the Pearly Gates

I’ll have tee time booked in Heaven on the grandest course of all And we’ll go golfing once again chasing that little white ball

  1. Hi David, I somehow came across your poems online and just thought I’d write to say how much I have enjoyed them. I have a little poetry site myself and always feel so disappointed when I know I’ve had visitors to the site but they don’t leave any comments! So well done you – you’re very talented 🙂
    Best wishes

    1. Hi Anita, thank you for such a thoughtful and encouraging message. I completely understand what you mean about comments. Hearing from a real person always makes the writing feel worthwhile. Your kind words truly meant a lot to me, and I appreciate the support coming from a fellow poet. I’ll be sure to check out your site as well.

      Best wishes,
