Autumn Sun – A Poem by David Ritter

Autumn Sun

When the Autumn sun awakens
to rid the morn its chill,
I pray my heart will humbly stay
within my Father’s will.

I kneel beside my cozy bed
and start my day with prayer.
I read words in red that Jesus said,
and trust His love I’ll share.

I listen to the sweet birdsong
atop the amber trees
as I travel paths unknown ahead
to a happy destiny.

I greet my fellow neighbors with
an ever pleasant smile,
helping burdens lighten some
each step of every mile.

I welcome every challenge
that dares to come my way,
and trust my God to meet my needs
to get me through the day.

When nightfall comes, I thank my God
for all that He has done,
and sleep in peace until morning chill
awakens Autumn’s sun.
