When the Autumn sun awakens
to rid the morn its chill
I must pray my desires obey
and do my Father’s will
I will kneel beside my cozy bed
and start my day with prayer
I’ll read some words filled with red
and trust His love I’ll share
I’ll listen to the sweet birdsong
atop the amber trees
as I trudge along an unknown path
to a happy destiny
I will greet my fellow neighbors
with an ever-pleasant smile
and help their burdens to lighten some
each step of every mile
I’ll welcome every sudden challenge
that dare might come my way
And trust my God to meet my needs
to get me through the day
When nightfall comes, I’ll thank my God
for all that He has done
and sleep in peace until morning chill
awakes the Autumn sun
