Depression- A Poem by David Ritter

Depression: A Raw and Honest Poem. Within its verses, ‘Depression’ courageously navigates the isolating depths of mental health struggles. Themes of loneliness, doubt, and unwavering hope intertwine, offering solace and the promise of personal growth.”

Depression

I sometimes feel I’m drowning
In a world that’s full of hate
And those who claim they love me
throw at me added weight

Sometimes the walls are caving
I feel buried in debris
If God is my safe refuge
Why not shelter me?

Sometimes I feel like quitting
When things are not that great
But I know that this too shall pass
If only I can wait

I’ll never reach perfection
Like others need to be
I’m just a work in progress
To be a better me
