Discover a touching poem celebrating the unbreakable bond between a father and son. This heartfelt verse explores the depths of paternal pride as it transcends traditional measures of success like sports and popularity. Witness the heartwarming moment when the father reveals the true source of his joy in his child’s extraordinary accomplishment.
A Father’s Pride and Joy
There are few things in this world
that this dad would truly treasure
more than what my bright son has done,
for he has brought me great pleasure.
He did not hit a long home run
nor throw a winning touchdown pass.
He did not bag a trophy buck
or reel in the state record bass.
Never voted homecoming king,
never dated the prom queen.
He did not get the play’s lead
or enlist to be a Marine.
Now all of these things are noble
and would make any father proud.
But what my young man accomplished,
for me stands out above the crowd.
What is this fine deed my lad attained
that has brought this swelled dad much joy?
He made the school’s honor roll
so with pride, I cheer, “That’s my boy!”

MEMORIES FOR KEEPS
A collection of poetry that reveals one man’s feelings about the world around him. With spirituality the centerpiece of most of his writings, the author touches the hearts and minds of readers with hope, peace, love, humility, wisdom, and wit. While tackling topics ranging from grief to fatherhood, from addictions to friendships, this writer captures the essence of a born-again, alcoholic dad who is grateful to have finally found serenity in life. Today, through this collection of both old and new works, he shares that serenity with you!
BOTTLED MEMORIES
These stand-alone poems were written over many years. While individually they describe the conflicts associated with alcoholism, when read together they reveal a more complete picture of the destruction, depression, and chaos of addiction, as well as the peace, hope, and joy of recovery. Although most of these poems pertain to my life, it is my hope that other people will relate to them also. It’s not only my story but the story of so many others.
