“Friendships” is a reflective look at the bonds that shape our lives — the ones that last, the ones that fade, and the lessons each leaves behind.
Friendships
I’m not as young as I used to be
A little wiser I hope you’ll agree
Days of my life flew swiftly by
A loyal friend, dad, and papa was I
I sometimes think about the past
Friendships that could but did not last
Sometimes I wish with all my might
Another chance to make things right
Some friendships sparkled like a jewel
While others were mean and downright cruel
All have a place in my mind’s memory
I wonder if they ever think about me
Each day I live I try to appreciate
And try to love more and suppress my hate
Dreams that were shattered I try to forget
For life’s too short to live with regret
The hand of time has furrowed my brow
I’d like to think that I’m wiser now
Some friendships die and remain in the past
But my life is richer when friendships last
