Sailing ship battling stormy seas under golden light, symbolizing struggle, redemption, and God’s saving grace — the perfect reflection of Lost at Sea by David Ritter.

Lost at Sea – A Poem by David Ritter

“Lost at Sea” is a powerful and personal poem by David Ritter about faith, surrender, and redemption through God’s mercy. Through vivid imagery and raw emotion, it reflects on the depths of despair and the ultimate triumph of divine grace.

Lost at Sea

Unaware of the doom from choices I made,
I turned from God and no longer prayed.
I became lost and desperate, in a stormy sea,
an act from God, who allowed it to be.

In my haste to sail, far from His throne,
I didn’t realize I’d soon be alone.
I tried to hide, from black clouds of guilt,
ashamed of the life that sin had built.

When waves of despair came crashing down,
if not for my God, I would have drowned.
I cried out for His mercy, grace, and love,
He reached out His hand to grab ahold of.

He pulled me to shore, with all of His might,
out of the darkness and into His light.
And I’m forever grateful that He rescued me,
from a hopeless life that was lost at sea.

  1. I like the real life depiction of being Lost At Sea without God.I get the impression of being Rescued By God after reading the poem.Sick people want healing more than anything else. They want to be rescued from the alcohol/drug addiction.Good poem.
