A man stands alone at dawn, gazing over a calm lake beneath a gray-blue sky, symbolizing reflection, faith, and gratitude after hardship.

Sometimes I Forget – A Poem by David Ritter

“Sometimes I Forget” is a quiet prayer of gratitude—remembering how far God has carried us from darkness into light. Simple, honest lines reflect on storms survived, help received, and a faith that holds fast.

Sometimes I Forget

Sometimes I forget how far I’ve come From a life that felt like a prison cell And sometimes I forget to thank my God Who raised me from the depths of hell

When my world was dark and hope was weak He gave me strength to stand and cope And when I fell in deep despair He wrapped me in His light and hope

He sheltered me from sudden storms That sought to tear my soul apart Then gently led me back again With healing hands and patient heart

He’s carried me o’er mountains high And pulled me from the raging tide He’s fought for me in battles fierce And always stayed right by my side

He loved me when I turned away And never once has failed me yet He’s never thought of giving up That’s something I must not forget
