A young boy sits by the shore at sunset, reflecting on life — symbolic of growth, faith, and reflection in David Ritter’s poem Dear Younger Self.

Dear Younger Self – A Poem by David Ritter

“Dear Younger Self” is a heartfelt reflection written as a message from an older soul to a younger heart — a gentle reminder to trust God’s guidance, embrace growth, and live with kindness and peace of mind.

Dear Younger Self

Little one, with eyes so bright,
Let God be your guiding light.
Through all the roads you’ve yet to find,
Trust His care and keep Him in mind.

When dark nights come and doubts appear,
Have faith in God — He’s always near.
Though trials roar and winds may blow,
You’ll find His strength and learn to grow.

Dream your dreams and chase what’s true,
Let hope and love keep guiding you.
Mistakes will come, but don’t lose heart,
They’re just the steps to a brand-new start.

Friends may come and friends may go,
Forgive the hurt and let love show.
Yes, people change, and so will you,
Let kindness always see you through.

As time moves on and seasons fade,
Some joys will pass, but love is made.
So laugh out loud, don’t hold it in,
Let gratitude live deep within.

Life’s too short to carry pain,
Let faith and hope forever reign.
Let God’s love in, don’t turn away,
And in your heart, peace will stay.
