“Only A Dream” is a tender and emotional reflection on longing. Caught between the comfort of a dream and the pain of waking reality, the poem captures the quiet ache of missing someone deeply.
Only A Dream
I had a dream one lonely night
And in this dream, I was missing you
I was laying in my bed crying
There was nothing that I could do
I woke up and sat up in bed
And wondered, what is the deal?
My hand wiped away tears
Realizing my tears were real
I turned on the light and laid back down
And sighed as I turned my head
To look at your beautiful face
In the picture by my bed
Then something came to mind
while I was staring at you
How I now believe when people say
“Dreams do come true.”
