“The Quiet Gift” is a reflective poem about something priceless that cannot be bought, earned, or found in worldly success. Rooted in faith, surrender, honesty, and recovery, this poem invites the reader to consider what is truly needed when fear rises, pride takes root, and the soul longs for stillness.
The Quiet Gift
You won’t find it made of diamonds
Or resting on a shelf;
It can’t be bought with money,
Yet I need it for myself.
It isn’t found in crowded stores
Or dressed in grand display;
It leaves when fear and chaos rise
As darkness clouds the way.
The hurried soul runs past it
While chasing one more prize;
It waits within the stillness
Too calm for frantic eyes.
It cannot dwell where pride takes root
Or bitterness remains;
It fades behind the walls I build
From anger, hurt, and blame.
It vanishes when I reach back
For things I can’t control,
But waits beyond surrender
When God restores my soul.
So tell me, friend who reads these words,
What treasure brings release?
The grace I find in letting go
Reveals the Quiet Gift—
Peace.
