“Some Days” is a heartfelt reflection on life’s ebb and flow, capturing the contrast between bright moments and stormy days. The poet grapples with faith, struggle, brokenness, and the unwavering presence of God throughout their journey.
Some Days
Most days the birds are singing
and the sun is shining bright
but some days storms are raging
clouding all the lightSome days my faith is weakened
and I lack the words to pray
Some days my path’s a struggle
those days I lose my wayMost days I have it together
and life for me is great
Some days my heart is broken
those days are ones I hateSome days I climb the mountain
just to enjoy the view
Some days I lack the strength
those days are only fewMost days are filled with love
those days make me glad
Most days I laugh and smile
but some days I’m only sadSome days I sail the ocean
to get to the other side
Some days I feel like sinking
those days I want to hideSome days are better than others
but one thing remains true
on “all” the days of my journey
it’s God that helps me throughDavid Ritter 4/5/21

MEMORIES FOR KEEPS
A collection of poetry that reveals one man’s feelings about the world around him. With spirituality the centerpiece of most of his writings, the author touches the hearts and minds of readers with hope, peace, love, humility, wisdom, and wit. While tackling topics ranging from grief to fatherhood, from addictions to friendships, this writer captures the essence of a born-again, alcoholic dad who is grateful to have finally found serenity in life. Today, through this collection of both old and new works, he shares that serenity with you!
BOTTLED MEMORIES
These stand-alone poems were written over many years. While individually they describe the conflicts associated with alcoholism, when read together they reveal a more complete picture of the destruction, depression, and chaos of addiction, as well as the peace, hope, and joy of recovery. Although most of these poems pertain to my life, it is my hope that other people will relate to them also. It’s not only my story but the story of so many others.
