“Winter’s Warmth” is a beautifully crafted poem that captures the essence of the Christmas season. Through vivid imagery and heartfelt reflections, the poet evokes the joy, peace, and wonder associated with this special time of year.
Winter’s Warmth
When Autumn gives way to Winter
and fresh snow kisses the ground
When lights twinkle from house to house
and bells ring a familiar sound
When gingerbread cookies are baked
and presents are under the tree
When snowflakes fall from a winter’s sky
what a joy I find it to beWhen sacred candles glow in windows
and light bulbs adorn the trees
When nativity scenes on snowcapped yards
spread peace with seasons breeze
When stockings are hung in the living room
with decorations I hold dear
When family gather for a hearty dinner
I’m filled with holiday cheerWhen piles of snow are beneath my boots
and the brisk winds hit
I consider the reason for the season
and reflect on all of it
When frosty hills with a tender glow
light up December’s night
I’ll know that Christmas day is near
from the warmth of Emanuel’s lightDavid Ritter 2020

MEMORIES FOR KEEPS
A collection of poetry that reveals one man’s feelings about the world around him. With spirituality the centerpiece of most of his writings, the author touches the hearts and minds of readers with hope, peace, love, humility, wisdom, and wit. While tackling topics ranging from grief to fatherhood, from addictions to friendships, this writer captures the essence of a born-again, alcoholic dad who is grateful to have finally found serenity in life. Today, through this collection of both old and new works, he shares that serenity with you!
BOTTLED MEMORIES
These stand-alone poems were written over many years. While individually they describe the conflicts associated with alcoholism, when read together they reveal a more complete picture of the destruction, depression, and chaos of addiction, as well as the peace, hope, and joy of recovery. Although most of these poems pertain to my life, it is my hope that other people will relate to them also. It’s not only my story but the story of so many others.
