“Mourning Glory” is a heartfelt exploration of grief, sorrow, and the hope found in turning to God. The poem travels from darkness to light — ending with the comfort and peace offered by the Son.
Mourning Glory
My room so cold and lonely,
teardrops flood my eyes.
The rain outside descending
from dark and stormy skies.
I sit alone and ponder
on good times that used to be,
but the only days I have now,
fill up with misery.
I try accepting what’s happened
make plans for coming years,
but every passing moment
only brings new tears.
I sit here by my window
with rain slowly falling,
as I close mourning eyes
I realize someone’s calling.
I wipe the hurt from my face,
and bow my head to pray.
At last I turn to the Son,
who dries my tears away!
