Munising’s Embrace
Just back from a soul-stirring journey to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, I’m still captivated by Munising’s stunning landscapes. With autumn’s colors ablaze and ideal weather, it felt more like a spiritual retreat than a getaway. This visit was about more than just the views. It was a time for reflection and prayer. I felt profoundly connected to the natural world. Inspired by the beauty around me, I wrote “Munising’s Embrace,” a poem that reflects the peace and wonder I felt. While my words and photos capture only a glimpse, I hope they allow you to experience Munising’s magic, too.
Munising’s Embrace
The morning light began to rise,
Its golden rays lit up the skies.
The lake, like glass, flashed calm and bright,
Reflecting dreams that take their flight.
I wandered through a glowing wood,
Where leaves like flames in daylight stood.
Each step I took, the trail my guide,
Holding close the wish I hide.
I saw where tears from heaven fell,
Down cliffs so high, they knew me well.
They whispered peace through streams and trees,
Restoring life with harmony.
I chased the sunset’s fiery hue,
Where skies of gold met waters blue.
Each wave a murmur, soft and clear,
Echoes of love only I could hear.
Home called me softly, dusk drew near,
A shelter warm that I held dear.
Though Munising’s beauty kept me strong,
This place for now is where I belong.
But deep inside, a wish stays true,
That one day I’ll return to you.
For in that place where wonders stay,
I’ll find my path back there someday.
