“True Love at Last” is a heartfelt exploration of deep connection and unwavering companionship. With a touch of humor and a genuine sense of affection, the poem celebrates the transformative power of a special bond.
True Love at Last
I know she isn’t my first love
but I hope she’ll be my last
and since she pranced into my life
she’s helped me forget the pastHer love for me is everlasting
and I’m her number one
When it comes to the game of love
this guy has finally wonHer serene eyes are green like ivy
her hair is soft as snow
And each day we spend together
our love finds a way to growShe loves me when I am playful
even in times that I am mad
And she does her best to cheer me up
in times that I am sadSometimes she can be moody
and wants to be left alone
but most times she will be frisky
in ways I’ve never knownNot once has she ever complained
when I go out with a friend
because she knows I will return
with love that knows no endAt night I hold her close to me
and snuggle on my bed
And the warmth of her body helps fuel
sweet dreams that fill my headShe accepts me the way that I am
despite being bald and fat
But I’ve never known a truer love
than the love I have with my catDavid Ritter

MEMORIES FOR KEEPS
A collection of poetry that reveals one man’s feelings about the world around him. With spirituality the centerpiece of most of his writings, the author touches the hearts and minds of readers with hope, peace, love, humility, wisdom, and wit. While tackling topics ranging from grief to fatherhood, from addictions to friendships, this writer captures the essence of a born-again, alcoholic dad who is grateful to have finally found serenity in life. Today, through this collection of both old and new works, he shares that serenity with you!
BOTTLED MEMORIES
These stand-alone poems were written over many years. While individually they describe the conflicts associated with alcoholism, when read together they reveal a more complete picture of the destruction, depression, and chaos of addiction, as well as the peace, hope, and joy of recovery. Although most of these poems pertain to my life, it is my hope that other people will relate to them also. It’s not only my story but the story of so many others.
