A Decision to Change-A Poem by David Ritter

One of the first poems I ever wrote as a teenager.

A change came upon me one glorious day.
It lifted me up, helped change my ways.

It took this troubled heart and filled it with love.
No doubt in my mind it was the Lord from heaven above.

I opened my heart and let Him come in.
He changed my life, washed away my sins.

He touched me in a way I can’t explain.
He helped comfort my heart, helped heal the pain.

He gave me the message “Come walk with me”,
and “You shall receive eternal life, you shall be set free.”

Hearing this message, I could not turn away.
And with this change, I’m happy to say,

“The choice was mine; at first, I admit I was afraid.
But I chose to serve the Lord – the best decision I ever made.”
